What we learned at the Ticketing Professionals Conference 2022

After working alongside the Ticketing Professionals Conference (TPC) team to promote the conference on social media, we travelled to Birmingham for TPC2022 in March. We had a great time chatting with other ticketing professionals in-person for the first time in almost two years — learning from the diverse and educational sessions. Read on, as we fill you in on our key takeaways from the event.

Digital Sustainability - Kate Mroczkowski and Jen Pearcei

As a digital agency, sustainability in tech is something we strive to keep up to date with. Kate and Jen shared the environmental impact our digital activity can have, and opened our eyes to the reality of how little changes can have a big impact. Something as small as switching to a green hosted website, can reduce your carbon output by tons and limit the energy use of data centres.

What’s happening around the World in ticketing? - Jose Vicente Vara Rodriguez

We’re fortunate enough to have Skyway clients all across the world – from Honolulu, to Milwaukee, to London. So we know that ticketing needs are different depending on where you are. This can be because of changing legislation, user expectations or culture. That’s why it was great to hear about the Palco4 team’s experiences regarding fraud, marketing and operations. We loved hearing about the different challenges and their solutions to problems which arise throughout the event on-sale and even the event itself!

Implementing Digital Ticketing - True Tickets X Roundhouse X Roundabout Theatre at the Ticketing Professionals Conference 2022

Implementing Digital Ticketing - True Tickets X Roundhouse X Roundabout Theatre

As digital ticketing experts and arts and culture fans ourselves, we love hearing about the combination of the two. This session took us through the implementation of digital ticketing at London and New York’s most prestigious venues. It was great to hear our friends at the Roundhouse and True Tickets talk about their creative decisions, project challenges and the well-deserved success they have seen due to their hard work.

The Show Must Go On - Sietse Bakker

We loved learning about what goes on behind the scenes at the Eurovision Song contest. Sietse took us through the challenges and hardships of producing Europe’s favourite TV show during the Covid-19 pandemic. This included an insight into the customer journey which had to incorporate track and trace apps, testing and ticketing. It was fascinating to hear about the success of the show as well as the inner workings of production.

Lynn Aitchison, Head of Marketing at the Ticketing Professionals Conference 2022

Driving Email Subscriptions by Social Media - Lynn Aitchison

Our favourite part of the conference however, was obviously our Head of Marketing —Lynn Aitchison’s — session on how to drive email subscriptions through social media. She gave an insight into our 1K email subscriber campaign with Ellers Farm Distillery which was shortlisted for a UK Paid Media Award. Lynn spoke about the importance of email as a marketing channel and the value of a lifetime subscriber. She also provided some tips on how to keep a growing database engaged to ensure low drop-off rates.

We’re grateful that we’re able to get back to in-person events and meet with others in the industry. Did you hear Lynn’s session and want to know more about our Digital Marketing work? Get in touch today to see how we can bring you incredible results. You can also follow us on Twitter and LinkedIn to see what conference we’ll be attending next.
