Why should you work for an agency?

In a recent blog, we discussed why you should hire a digital agency. Now we consider the benefits of working for a digital agency. Variety and diversity

One of the more obvious perks of working for an agency is the variety in tasks and clients—making every day unique. Not only does this create a more interesting workday, but it also allows you to develop your time management and organisational skills to ensure clients are happy and deadlines are met.

I enjoy the variety of web development projects we work on, no two that come through the studio are the same which is really interesting from a project management perspective as I’m always learning something new and adding to my skill set for the future!
— Jodie Gardiner, Digital Producer

As you’ll likely be responsible for looking after multiple clients with multiple projects, you will be representing a variety of brands, and working across a multitude of industries. This helps build a diverse knowledge base with industries you may not have experienced otherwise.

It’s a fast-paced, high-pressure workplace with many projects running simultaneously, and it can help you develop skills much faster than expected—as you meet the client’s needs and deadlines.

Team mentality

Whilst working in a digital agency, throughout your department you will have multiple employees working on that client alongside you, but on different parts of the project. This allows you to bounce ideas off of others who know the client well. Not only can you collaborate with your colleagues when assistance is required, but having a department in an agency often means you have people with different strengths in different areas, allowing you to learn from each other and develop your skills and experience further.

Everyone’s an expert in their own right so we get to do cross-departmental collaboration with clients when the opportunity comes. You’re able to ensure everything’s working like a well-oiled machine, rather than being squarely stuck doing just one thing.

Build strong client relationships

Working on multiple projects, means you develop strong client relationships. These are crucial in agency work as maintaining good relationships with existing clients makes for great testimonials. This, in turn, can lead to more clients coming on board in the future.

Opportunities to be creative

By working with a multitude of different clients that have differing values, ideas, and business objectives, you develop different approaches to ensure your mindset and tone of voice are appropriate for the project. No two days are the same—which is a huge benefit of working for a digital agency.

Another benefit of working at an agency is that your clients will often come to you looking for thoughts and ideas on upcoming projects and/or campaigns. This means you can be creative, as well as use data to back up your ideas.
